Notes:

His second wife was of a prominent Virginia family, Smyth County, Virginia,
being named for her father. Her first husband Colonel Piper was a civil
engineer, who was active in the development of Wythe and Grayson Counties. She
had no children of her own by either husband and so was able to devote much
time and effort to community and church related projects and to the upbringing
of the children in the McTeer household, including Piper Catlett, son of the
first Mrs. McTeer by her first husband, Rev. Mr. Catlett.

Frances married James H. Piper 9 Feb 1824. James died 8 Sep 1854; was buried Cripple Creek, Virginia. [Group Sheet]

Frances married John Montgomery McTeer 2 Mar 1857. John (son of James Robert McTeer and Ellen Conner) was born Abt 1822, Morganton, Tennessee; died 1892. [Group Sheet]
