    Notes:

Frederick was active in the military. As a young man in 1758, he served as
Corporal in Captain John Middaugh's Company and was still Corporal in 1767 as
seen in Captain John Middaugh's muster roll of March 2, 1767. Later he served
as sergeant in Captain John Carmack's Company where he probably continued to
serve through the Revolutionary War." Frederick took the oath of allegience in
1777 and was living in Frederick County at that time.

During the war, Frederick was living in the Tom's Creek area of Frederick
County, Maryland, where in 1778 he served as constable. He may have been
living on a portion of the tract called Brooks Discovery on the Rich Land where
Sarah Lewis, his widow who had married a Mr. Lewis, was living in 1790. He mayhave moved to this area about 1770. He bought from Norman Bruce two brown, one
bay, and one sorrel horse, one red cow, and two heifers.

    Notes:

John Clabaugh signed the Oath of Fidelity in 1777 in Montgomery County, but no record of John serving in the Revolutionary War has been found. Also taking the Oath of Allegience was Charles Clabaough.

John Clabaugh is listed in the 1790 Maryland Census. John and four males under the age of sixteen are listed with four females, one of them being Margaret. In the 1796 presidential election Charles, John and Jacob Clabaugh are listed on the poll. John and his family are also listed in the 1800 Maryland census.

Sometime after 1800 John and his brother Charles Clabaugh and two of John's brothers in-law, Samuel and James Ferguson headed for Tennessee.

On February 16, 1807, John Clabaugh Jr. had 126 acres on Middle Creek surveyed. On February 24, 1807, brother Charles had 219 acres surveyed on Middle Creek. On September 29, 1808 John Clabaugh's patent was issued by Governor John Sevier and Charles's patent was issued the next day.

John Clabaugh Jr. signed a petition to the Tennessee General Assembly in 1813. This is the last record found.

    Notes:

Charles Clabaugh may have been named after a possible Charles Hedges. No
record has been found of Charles Clabough service in the Revolutionary War,
however, in 1778 he took the oath of Fidelity required by all men ages eighteen
    and over.

The Frederick County Federal Census confirms that there was one son living with
    them in 1790.

After 1800, Charles and his brother, John Clabough made the trek to East
Tennessee where they settled on Middle Creek in Sevier County, Tennessee.
Charles received his patent to 219 acres on September 30, 1808. The Sevier
County Court House burned in 1856 destroying the records which would have given
further information on Charles's later life, of which nothing further is known.

They moved into Alabama Territory and settled on Six Mile Creek in what is now Bibb County.

Here in 1820, his household included his wife, four boys and three girls. They were still living in Warren County in 1830. By 1840 son, James B., had moved to Bibb County, Alabama.

Two years later, on September 29, 1845 Charles and Jane had sold Jane's farm on Six Mile Creek and moved to Missouri, where in 1850 they were living near their sons James B. and William in Dade County, Missouri.
