    Notes:

    John Kingsley Macomber went to Iowa with his father. He Graduated at the State
    College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, at Ames, Iowa, in 1872 and studied at
    the Institute of Technology, Boston and at Cornell University, where he was
    Professor of Physics and Librarian six years. He Published in 1876 a series of
    lectures on "Matter and Force." He practiced law in Des Moines, Iowa starting
    in 1883.
