1. | Martin McTeer was born 27 Nov 1771, Pennsylvania; died 29 Dec 1853, Ellejoy, Blount County, Tennessee; was buried Eusebia Cemetery, Blount County, Tennessee. Notes:
Martin McTeer owned and operated the mill which had been his father's. It was
located on and run by the waters of Ellejoy Creek at a site beside the old
McTeer Fort.
In addition to land inherited through his father's will, Martin McTeer had a
grant of 100 acres from the State of Tennessee, filed in Blount County, 21
October 1824, surveyed 25 October 1824, and bounded by lands of Robert Murrins,
William McTeer and Adam Kuns.
In the 1830 census of Blount County Martin Mcteer and his wife were listed as
aged 50-60 years; they had living with them a girl aged 10-16 years. In the
1850 census of the 1st Civil District Blount County Martin McTeer was listed
aged 78 years with wife aged 71, both born in Pennsylvania; the only other
member of their household was Minerva McTeer aged 20, born in Tennessee (their
niece).
The will of Martin McTeer, written 15 March 1845, probated 6 February 1854,
bequeathed to wife Ann, all of "the tract I now live on", also one-half of the
100 acres adjoining, a Negro girl Dolly and control of all property; to friends
Moses Hooper and Miles Hooper, the place "where they now live"; to niece
Minervey McTeer, the gray mare and brindle cow. Executors: Mathew H. Bogle,
