Retired Sgt. James (Ron) Phillips, age 57 of Sevierville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 23, 2006. He attended Oak City Baptist Church. He served in the Vietnam War as part of the 51st Screaming Eagles and received numerous awards. He loved working with the youth as a Scout Leader, baseball coach, and assistant basketball coach, though his favorite role was as an umpire. He also enjoyed hiking, camping, and had many hobbies.
He was preceded in death by his brother Stephen Phillips and sister-in-law Marsha Phillips.
He is survived by his:

Daughters and sons-in-law: Nikki Jenkins, Amanda and Randy Oliver, Caycie and Roscoe Spears
Son and daughter-in-law: Jessi (J.J.) and Carrie Phillips
Grandsons: Brandon Oliver, Gabriel and Caleb Spears, Alex and Kaleb Jenkins
Beautiful granddaughter: Hannah (Kat) Spears
