CCHS junior to attend National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine
Elaina 'Ellie' Owens, a rising Cocke County High School junior, will attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine at the University of Southern California Berkeley the week of July 7.
Ellie is the daughter of Dr. Denise Webb and Kurt Owens.
Ellie's selection to attend this year's forum was based on her exemplary academic achievement, leadership potential, and her interest in medicine.
One of a very select group of high school scholars, she will gain valuable insight into the challenges and rewards of a medical career. At the forum, she, along with other delegates, will spend ten days enjoying first-hand experiences, examine state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, and future medical specialties in detail.
She will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with some of America’s most distinguished medical leaders and research pioneers and discover valuable new perspectives regarding a career in the medical field.
Ellie will complete her high school work in only three years. Currently she has a GPA of approximately 4.41 and is on track to graduate with 32 college credit hours. Her third year of high school will be spent on the campus of Walters State Community College as a full-time student.
She is a graduate of Cosby Elementary School.
