Cecil Goodnough, age 95, of Woodfin, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007. Mrs. Goodnough was born March 10, 1912 in Toms Creek, Va.. She was raised in Del Rio, Tenn. where she still maintains a summer home. She was a resident of Buncombe County since 1943. She was retired from Belks Inc.. Her parents, William and Polly Wild Caldwell as well as her husband, Clinton Goodnough, who died in 1979; son, Norman H. Goodnough; daughter, Alice G. Lawson; three sisters and four brothers; preceded her in death. Surviving are her daughter, Oma Sharpe and her husband Roy of Leicester; daughter-in- law, Doniese Goodnough of Leicester; son-in-law, Andy Lawson of Fort Mill, S.C.; sister, Geneva Dockery of Johnson City, Tenn.; brother, John Caldwell of Corpus Christie, Texas; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Reverend Maggie Lauterer officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Garden of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
