Geneva Caldwell Dockery, age 100, of Johnson City died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at her residence.
Mrs. Dockery was born in Del Rio, Tennessee, on September 17, 1908, and was the daughter of the late William Patton Caldwell and Polly Ellen Wild Caldwell.
She was a charter member of the First Church of God, West Watauga and Lamont in Johnson City. She retired from Allison’s Bakery as a pastry decorator and then opened Dockery Fabric Shop.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lattie Dockery in May 1948; four brothers, Hillard, James, Roy and Junior Caldwell; four sisters, Mae Hensley, Sue Martin, Ruth Dockery, and Cecil Goodnough; an infant son, Lattie McNabb Dockery, Jr.; and an infant grandson and an infant granddaughter.
Mrs. Dockery is survived by her daughters, Edna Haney, Verlie Williams, C.L. Trentham and her husband Graden, Zollie Berry, Marie Miller and her husband Herb; her sons, Don and his wife Charlotte, Bob Dockery, Conley and his wife Pauline; a brother, Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer John Caldwell, of Texas.
She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren and two special nephews, Ivan and Gary Dockery, of Ohio.
The funeral service for Geneva Caldwell Dockery will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel with Dan Stansberry officiating.
The committal service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Faubin Cemetery in the Baltimore Community of Cocke County. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Saturday.
Active pallbearers will be Eddie Dockery, Stephen Dockery, Mike Williams, Lattie Dockery, Jerry Berry, Jimmy Trentham, Jerry Wilson, and Allen Estepp.
Honorary pallbearers will be Graden Trentham, Herb Miller, and men of the First Church of God.
The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
The family would like to express a special thanks to dear friends, JoAnn Feathers, Judy Atkins, and Lois Fuller.
The family request that memorial donations be sent to the First Church of God Building Fund, 801 W. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601.
