Johnny Ellison, a native of the Bybee Community, is announcing his candidacy for District 3 Road Commissioner.
Johnny Ellison, a native of the Bybee Community, is announcing his candidacy for District 3 Road Commissioner. "If elected I make no promises other than to do my best to serve the third district," Ellison said.
"After considering this for the past eight years and having been asked by people of the Third District, who are unhappy with the way things are, I have decided to run for this position." Ellison was a farmer before going to work for the Highway Department. He is a member and pastor of Clay Creek Baptist Church. He and his wife, Cookie, have three children, Eric, Barry and Kirsty. They have two granddaughters, Emily and Elaina. His parents are James and Eloise Ellison of Bybee. "Having been employed by the Cocke County Highway Department for 13 years, I know the conditions of the roads in the Third District," he said. "Everyone deserves and expects good roads, but all this takes time and money. If elected I will use what money we have to improve roads in all the Third District. "You must work all year long and all four years to get as much work done as possible," he said. "When my brother was Road Commissioner, I worked with him to get more work and paving done in the Third District than had been in a long time. There is more to it than just paving roads. There is also patching and maintenance for all roads." Ellison continued, "As road commissioner, I'll try to get as much of this done for the Third District, without respect to friendship or favoritism. I believe in honesty and fairness for all people in the Third District. I ask for your vote and support in the August election. Please give me a chance to work for you and with you for the next four years."
