Edward Allen Poe, age 76, of Newport died Thursday, September 8, 2004. He attended Lowes Chapel Church. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Darrel Laverne Poe; parents, Will and Jessie Poe; also nine brothers, five sisters, and twins. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Poe of Newport; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Freiheit of Herndon, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Mona Poe of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Tyler, Jodi and Kelly Freiheit, Anthony, Brian II, Brandon, and Moya Poe; brothers, Robert (Ann) Poe of Colorado Springs and Fred (Betty) Poe of Hinkley, CA; sisters, Mary Grace Talbot of Revenne, OH and Ruby Hall of Dandridge, TN; sister-in-law, Dora Lee Farley of Clarksville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 8 p.m. with Reverend Jacky Caldwell and Reverend Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in Union Cemetery with L/Cpl Charles C. Roberts DAV Chapter 103 conducting military rites.
