(Bill) Sheffey, age 82, passed away July 20, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. He was retired from the Newport Police Department, was a Veteran of World War II, and was a member of First United Methodist Church, of Newport. He is survived by his wife, Sara Sheffey; sister, Emma Young, of Newport; daughter and devoted son-in-law, Nan and Harold Smith, of Newport; and son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kathy Sheffey, of Atlanta, Georgia. Also by grandsons, Keith Smith and Larry Smith, of Newport, and A.J. Sheffey, of Atlanta, Georgia; and great-grandson, Jeffery Butler, of Newport. Funeral services will be handled by Manes Funeral Home, of Newport, Tennessee. Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, and services will be at 8 p.m. by Riley Huffstetler, pastor of First United Methodist Church, of Newport.
