Thanks for the quick reply. I will check some more sources for the Ownbey book to see if it is available somewhere.
The corrections to my grandparent records are as follows:
- Grandma's full name is Louise Leona Elizabeth Ownbey
- Granddad's full name is John H. Morgan Patterson (with 2 t's)
- Grandma was born 1 NOV 1871 in Union County, GA
- Grandma died 25 DEC 1942
- My grandparents' wedding date was 18 DEC 1892
My sources for these corrections are personal knowledge (my Granddad helped raise me), handwritten family records, diaries, death certificates, and my grandparents' marriage license. I show Grandma was born in Union County, GA; however, I can't locate my source document. I'll keep looking. Otis Anderson also lists Walker County, GA as her birthplace.
Errors certainly have not been unusual in our family history research. Your advice on your website to verify information is well taken.
We are fortunate that there is a lot of information on the Ownbey's. I would be interested in knowing to which Ownbey you are directly related.
