Mr. Richard Reece, age 83, of Del Rio, born February 10, 1925, passed away December 1, 2008, at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Reese attended Mulberry Gap Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth Reece; brothers, John, Floyd, Ruben, Patton, Isaac, Darlious and Cecil Reece; and sisters, Vina Bible, Hattie Carlisle, and Sweater Reece.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edith Reece, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Janiece, of Dandridge; Billy and Carolyn, of Parrottsville; and Freddy and Doris, of Del Rio; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Gary Shelton, of Hartford; grandchildren, Robby (Brandi) Reece, of Dandridge; Ben (Tammy) Reece, of Dandridge; Melissa (Aaron) Proffitt, of Newport; Brad Reece and Dexter Reece, both of Parrottsville; and Shannon (Tara) Shelton, of Newport; great-grandchild, Colby Reece, of Dandridge; brother and sister-in-law, Toy and Thelma Reece, of Newport; and brother-in-law, Luther Dockery, of Del Rio.
Additional survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 4, 2008, at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Reece and Rev. James Suggs officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
Robby Reece, Ben Reece, Shannon Shelton, Brad Reece, Dexter Reece, and Aaron Proffitt will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
