U.S. Veteran Jerry E. Bryant November 11, 1943 August 17, 2016
Jerry E. Bryant, age 72, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Newport Medical Center. Jerry proudly served in the United States Navy from January 22, 1962 until May 20, 1966, where he received an honorable discharge. He served as ground support at the U. S. Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. Jerry established many businesses in the Bryant Town area of Newport, always beginning the business name with Bryant Town which helped give the area its name. He was preceded in death by his sons, Lewis Dale Bryant and Charles David Bryant; father and mother, Charles S. and Stella Ethel Bryant; brother, Charles Eugene Bryant; brothers-in-law, Conway Wilson, Sr., Chester Crumb and Danny Reece; dear friends, Rev. John Foster and Lewie Wainer. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sharon R. Bryant; daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Bryant Trivett; granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Barnett and Alexis Grace Trivett; sisters, Estalle Wilson, Irene Crumb and Joyce Maloy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Regina and Ricky Morris, Rex Reece, Angel and Billy Massey; also many, nieces, nephews, other family and good friends. Family graveside services were held Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 12:00 noon in Union Cemetery, Rev. Sandra Melcher officiating. Full military honors where conducted by the VFW Post 5266, Morristown, TN. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Newport Rescue Squad, 111 Underwood Road, Newport, TN 37821.
