Maurice (Ressy) McVey Roberts, age 65, of Newport, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2002, at UT Medical Center.
Ressy was a life time resident of Newport and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was retired after working in the banking industry for over twenty years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Frances Fisher Roberts and the mother of his children, Susan Hartsell Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Rolen Roberts; daughters and sons-in-law, Suanne and Brady Cody, of Melbourne, Florida and Sally and Rick Weber, of Lenoir City, TN; brothers and sisters-in-law, William A. and Jimmy Ann Roberts, of Athens, Alabama, and Jesse F. and Hattie Roberts, of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Allison and Rachel Cody, of Melbourne, Florida, and Scott and Cole Weber, of Lenoir City, TN; mother-in-law, Lucille Rolen; sisters-in-law, Virginia Rolen, of Newport and Sharon Rolen Lindsay and husband, Dennis, of Douglasville, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2002, at Manes Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at Union Cemetery on Tuesday for an 11 a.m. graveside service.
