~Cocke man charged with cabin thefts
From submitted reports
October 31, 2007
~Sheriff's detectives have arrested a Cocke County man in connection with a string of rental cabin burglaries in Sevier County.
~Jacob Andrew Reed, 23, of Parrottsville has been charged by detective Stephanie McClure with 31 counts of aggravated burglary after he was connected to several cabin burglaries after an investigation, Sheriff Ron Seals said Monday.
~Reed was caught on Oct. 25 after being seen at a burglary in progress in the Cartertown Road area.
Gatlinburg police officers stopped Reed in a vehicle as he was fleeing the scene and he was charged at that time for burglary related offenses and booked into jail. McClure was able to connect Reed to 31 burglaries that had occurred over the past couple of months in which flat-screen LCD televisions were taken from rental cabins.
Seals said cooperation among the sheriff's department, local police departments and rental cabin companies was instrumental in the arrest and investigation.
~Reed was being held at the Sevier County Jail until he could be arraigned.
~The investigation is continuing at this time and more arrests may follow, Seals said.
