He was a member of the D.A.V. Chapter #102 and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Gray Byrd. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Charles McNabb of Newport; granddaughter and her husband, Celena and Dennis Suggs of Newport; grandson and his wife, Richard and Pam McNabb of Newport; and great-grandchildren, Eli Suggs and Bethany McNabb of Newport. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Manes Funeral Home with Rev. Riley Huffstetler, Rev. J. Castro Smith and Rev. Robert Walker officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery with the Lance Corporal Charles Roberts D.A.V. Chapter #102 officiating. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday evening at Manes Funeral Home. Manes Funeral Home is in charge.
