Edna Jane Stokely (91) of Newport passed away Monday, October 10, 2011, at the Newport Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank J. Stokely, her father Zeb V. Massey , mother Sarah Hurst Massey, sisters; Ethel Norwood, Frances Hurst, Lena Howard and brothers; Claude, Jobey and Charles Massey. She is survived by her loving children Juanita Raines, Margaret Raines, Betty (Elmer) Barnes, Bobby Stokely, Donnie Stokely of Newport and a loving sister Mary Ann Shelton. Edna was the proud grandmother of 25 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 30 great-great grandchildren and 20 step grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the Newport (formerly Baptist) Convalescent Center, Dr. Thomas W. Conway MD and his cordial staff. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ben Watts and Brother Junior Loveday officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 PM on Wednesday (October 12) and Thursday (October 13) from 6:00-9:00 PM. Interment in the Union Cemetery will be Friday, October 14, 2011 following the 2:00 PM services.
