LEWIS , JOSEPH BILL (J. B.) age 87 of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012. He was born in Jefferson County, Tennessee, and was preceded in death by parents, Ceton L. Lewis & Ollie Lichlyter Lewis , and brother, Arthur Glenn. Survivors include wife, Hattie Bradley Lewis ; daughters, Sharon Wells & husband Kenneth, Wanda Scarbro & husband Kenneth; grandsons, Kenneth Tod Wells, Collin Joseph Wells & wife Stacie, and Brandon Lewis Scarbro; granddaughter, Rachel Scarbro Herbig & husband Jonathan; great-grandson, Edward Nathan Wells; siblings, Pauline Lee & Mattie Sather of San Diego, California; Georgia Phillips, Brownlow Lewis & wife Elaine and Betty Jean Freeman & husband Rolan, all of Newport, Tennessee, Mary Lou Mann of Cleveland, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Irene Lewis of Timberville, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. After many years as a salesman, J. B. retired from Bacon & Company in 1989. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to his church, St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3839 Buffat Mill Road, Knoxville, TN 37914 or to a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends at Stevens Mortuary from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on Thursday immediately followed by funeral services at 7:30 p.m. with The Reverend Steve Johnson officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment. Arrangements by Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at N. Broadway.
