Emma Dean Dawson, age 80, of Newport, died Sunday, September 9, 2001 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Dawson; daughter, Mary Violet Dawson Dyke; son, Mike Dawson; parents; two brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Carroll Fox of White Pine; and Polly and Carroll Wise of Newport. Grandchildren, Keith Wise of Bybee; Kellie and Kenny Steel of Sevierville; Mike and Kelly Dyke of Dandridge; Katrina and Jeff Wernick of Nashville; Karla and Ray Frazier of Newport; Micah and Kerri DeVault of Jonesboro. Great-grandchildren, Chad Manning, Chelsi Malone, and Jarrod Wise; also several nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harned Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Adams and Dr. Ron Gough officiating with the burial in the Harned Chapel Church Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral on Tuesday. The family received friends 7-9 p.m. on Monday at Manes Funeral Home. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
