Mrs. Kathleen Moore Cureton, age 91, died Thursday morning December 21, 2006 at Jefferson City Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Oakley Fine and had resided at Wellington Place in Newport since 2000.
Mrs. Cureton was a native of Del Rio and was the daughter of Joe David and Fannie Fox Moore. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ola Erby, Frances Jones and Laura Moore; and brothers, Elliott, William and Jim Moore.
Mrs. Cureton was retired from Stokely –Van Camp with 43 years service. She was known as an excellent homemaker and also will be remembered for the beautiful quilts she created, several of which were prize winners.
She was a long-time member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of the WUM and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was also a former member of the Town and Country Home Demonstration Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her children, Herbert Cureton and wife Barbara of Newport, Bill Cureton and wife Sylvia of Avon Park, Florida, Mary Frances Hershiser and husband Chuck of Daphne, Al; grandchildren, W. Michael Cureton and wife Christine of Minneapolis, MN, Judi Cureton of Dandridge, Melinda C. Davis and husband Scott of Birmingham, AL, and Roth Hershiser of Daphne, AL; great grandsons, Tyler Cureton of Minneapolis, MN, and Austin Davis of Birmingham, AL; daughter-in-law, Gloria Cureton of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Manes Funeral Home, with funeral services following at 8:00 pm, with Dr. Craig Ward officiating. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, December 24, 2006 in Union Cemetery.
