Wilma Haynes Penland, age 78, of Newport, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 8, at Cocke County Baptist Convalescent Center.
She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and was retired from the County Clerk’s Office.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Penland; parents, Bryant and Ethel Boley Haynes; and brother, Burnett Haynes.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Elizabeth Penland, of Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and James Faulkner, of Murfreesboro, and Lisa and Keith Shults, of Maryville; grandchildren, Amy and Allen Green, Knoxville; Rusty Penland, Johnson City; Megan Faulkner, Murfreesboro; Ashley and Madalyn Shults, Maryville; great-grandchildren, Lexi Goodman, of Knoxville; Hunter Corum, of Knoxville; and Blake Shults, of Maryville.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Craig Ward officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
