Mr. Stanley E. "Bud" McMillan, age 79, of Newport, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 3, 2013, at Tennova Physicians Regional Medical Center.
He was a 1952 graduate of Cocke County High School.
Bud was a Newport businessman and served the Newport area as a carpet layer from 1968 to 1976, was co-owner of Overholt's Hardware from 1976-1979, owned and operated Suggs Jewelers from 1979-1994, then began carpet sales again until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed working with tools, woodworking, carpentry, lawn care, and landscaping, etc.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann McMillan, son Robert Keith McMillan, parents Pierce and Sophronia P. McMillan, brothers Burton McMillan, Carl McMillan, and J.Q. McMillan, sisters Betty Cody and Nedra Rogers, daughter-in-law Lisa Cutshaw McMillan.
He is survived by his sons Michael E. McMillan of Newport and Samir McMillan of Knoxville, grandchildren Brooke (Josh) Haynes of Dandridge, Reagan McMillan and Alexander McMillan, both of Knoxville, great-granddaughter Ava Dawn Haynes of Dandridge, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Self McMillan of Knoxville.
The family will host a memorial service 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 in the chapel at First Baptist Church with Dr. Rich Lloyd officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
