Oma Caroline( McCarter) Swaggerty, age 86, of South Knoxville, went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, February 5, 2006, at her daughter Bethona’s home. She was an active and faithful charter member of Burnett’s Creek Baptist Church until her declining health prevented her from attending. She was the oldest of twelve children. She was preceded in death by her two year old son, Glenn, parents, Henry and Ella Mae McCarter, sisters, Dellie McCarter, Dorthy Berrier, Evie Whaley, Lidav Whaley, Rita Berrier, and Ruth Berrier; brothers, James and Clarence McCarter; half-sisters, “Little” Oma McCarter and Zonia Mathes; half-brothers, Clinton, Clellan, and Buford McCarter; son-in-law Mark Gerth.

Sons and daughter-in-law: Blane and wife Dorothy Swaggerty, Bruce Swaggerty
Daughter: Bethona Gerth
Grandchildren: Bill and Darrell Swaggerty, Danielle and husband Daniel Roach, and Tamra Gerth

Sisters: Gladys Maples and Pauline Loveday

A special thank you to the kind and compassionate people with Priority Health (CNA-Bunny), Senior Services (Valinda and others), Community Action Committee (sitter-Annie), and Hospice of U.T. Hospital for helping Bethona make her mother’s last few months here on earth easier.
Funeral Service 7:30 PM Tuesday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with her cherished Pastor Jimmy Miller, and Rev. Bethel Crisp officiating. Interment 1 PM Wednesday in Huskey Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews that attended church with her. The family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home Seymour 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, TN 37865 (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
