Jane Randolph Hurd Ferree, age 76, of St. Petersburg, Florida, died Monday, July 8, 2013, at her summer home in Glendale Springs, North Carolina.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a. m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of the Frescoes in Glendale Springs with Father Charles Supin and Deacon Shirley Long officiating.
Entombment of the urn will follow in the church columbarium.
Jane Randolph Hurd Ferree was born in Knox County, Tennessee, on Saturday, August 8, 1936, to the late Edward Floyd and Newell Hooper Hurd. She graduated from Cocke County High School in Newport, Tennessee, and attended the University of Tennessee. She served as a Red Cross volunteer in Japan during the Vietnam War.
She is survived by three sons: Alan Christner III of Simpsonville, Kentucky; Edward Hurd Christner of Largo, Florida; and Richard Randolph Christner of St. Petersburg, Florida; a daughter, Pamela Ann Christner of Seminole, Florida; three sisters Frances Mullen of Newport, Tennessee; Sandra Scott of Nashville, Tennessee and Annabelle Hurd of Hendersonville, North Carolina; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and several nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Edward Christner, Jr. and her grandfather, former Tennessee Governor Ben W. Hooper.
