(January 5, 1930 - May 10, 2013) Clifton Shelton, age 83, Newport, entered peacefully into his heavenly home on Friday May 10th. 2013, surrounded by his family that he loved so much. He was a kind, loving & generous, husband, father & papaw. He always had a beautiful smile for everyone he met. He was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William Shelton and Florence Ford Shelton; brothers, Doyle Shelton & Walter Shelton; sister, Dorothy Dawson; son-in-law, Jerry Jones; brothers-in-law Brady Raines, Earl Clarke, Joe Edwards, and Sidney Gregg Dawson, R.D Cogburn, Charles Cogburn, Kenneth Godfrey, Richard Foust, Walt Medlin; sisters-in-law, Helen Godfrey, Alice Shelton, Mae Cogburn; father-in-law Tip Cogburn; mother-in-law, Lillie Cogburn. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Louise Cogburn-Shelton; son, Dale (Janet) Shelton; daughters, Patricia Lovell and Marilyn Jones; grand-children, Craig Gowan, Brooke (Mikey) White, Matthew (Tearsa) Shelton, Randy Crum, Scott (Tracy) Jones & Jeremy Jones; great grand-children, Brandon Brown, Shayne Watts, Madison Walker, Jayden & Elijah White. Jayce Shelton, Deegan Crum, Tyler Barnes,Tekowa Stanley; sisters, Ruby Raines, of White Pine, Birdia Edwards of New Jersey; brothers, Herman (Margaret) Shelton, Newport, Vaughn Shelton, Parrottsville; sisters-in-law Frankie (Howell) Wright, Newport, Sue Medlin, North Carolina, Regina Shelton Church Hill, Elaine Cogburn, Newport & Ostia Shelton, Iowa; also several nieces, nephews and his furry companion, Sam-bo. He is also survived by his special friend whom he loved like a son, Gary Gentry, his church family, and a host of several friends. Funeral Services will be held at 8:00 pm, Sunday May 12th. 2013, in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Davis officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am,.
