Dalton Rex Howard, age 77 of Pittman Center, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. He was a member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church. Rex was the founder and owner of Rex Howard's Landscaping. He was instrumental in founding the Town of Pittman Center, Pittman Center Ruritan Club and the Pittman Center Community Volunteer Fire Department. Rex enjoyed fishing, camping, antiquing, traveling, his afternoon drives in Greenbrier, and spending time with friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Eunavee Howard; sister, Geneva Wilson; and wife, Ruby Howard.
He is survived by his; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Denise Howard; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammie and Gary Ledford, Brenda and Rusty Oakley; grandchildren, Chad Phillips, Chelsi and Erik Beckstrom, Logan Ledford, Lucas Ledford, Brier and Boone Howard, Chase and Bailey Lipman; great-grandchildren, Bayler, Benett, Laney and Laila Beckstrom; sister, Wanda Fisher; brothers-in-law, Austin and Shearlean Green, and Herman Hodge. Special recognition to Rex's early morning coffee crowd at Proffitt's Grocery and McDonald's and his many employees throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pittman Center Community Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 752, Gatlinburg 37738.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:45 pm Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville with the funeral service to follow at 7pm in the West Chapel with Rev. Rick Adams officiating.
