McDANIEL, MARY FRANCES HAWKINS - age 65, of Knoxville, formerly of Memphis, Tenn., passed away 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2001 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was a devout Christian and a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville and a former charter member of Emmanual Untied Methodist Church in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Clara Hawkins and sister, Edith Dial of Portageville, Mo.
Survivors: husband of 45 years, Robert Edward McDaniel; daughters and sons in law, LeAnn and Roy Marshall, Robbie and Kenny Arledge, all of Knoxville; beloved grandchildren, Emily, age 12, Camille, age 8, Foster, age 6, Robert, age 5; brothers, Murlin Hawkins, James Hawkins; sisters, Alfreda Hanion, Ruth Ann Elkins, Regina Sisson; many nieces and nephews also survive as well as many, many friends whose lives she deeply touched, all will dearly miss her, but as a good and faithful servant, she now stands in glory with her heavenly father. Mrs. McDaniel is at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike where the family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Friday. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Cokesbury United Methodist Church with Dr. G. Steven Sallee, Carol Hollar and Rev. Stephen Defur officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial gifts be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1942.
