Orla Lillian Sorrell of Newport passed away at her home Wednesday, December 31, 2003. She was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.A. and Laura Crowder Moore; brothers, Ernest and Leon Moore; and sisters, Viola Taylor, Elizabeth Moore and Shirley Moore.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Herman Sorrell of Newport; two sons, Norman Sorrell of Knoxville, and Gary Sorrell and wife, Kathy, of Newport; grandchildren, Vicky and Randy Hicks of Knoxville, Kelly and Bill Sorrell of Yorktown, Va., Brian and Lisa Sorrell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Craig Sorrell of Knoxville, Jennifer and Kevin Holt of Newport, Kevin Foust of Macon, Georgia, Kasey and Karrie Foust of Jefferson City, and Kerri Foust of Newport; special friend, Norma Owenby of Newport; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mel Hawkins and Johnny Wells officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Manes Funeral Home.
