He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Effie Burgin; sister, Eunice Shoemaker; and brother, Robert Burgin. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Smith Burgin, of Del Rio; son, Darren Burgin, of Del Rio; daughters, Lisa Burgin and Sheri Stinnett, both of Del Rio, and Renina Sparks, of Andrew, North Carolina. Four grandchildren; brother, Roy Burgin, of Del Rio; sisters, Dorothy Ellison, of Parrottsville; Faye Gentry, Shirley Norwood, and Marie Norwood, all of Del Rio; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roger Decker officiating, with burial 11 a.m. Thursday in Jonestown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the service. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
