Daisy Marie (Burgin) Norwood, age 83, of Parrottsville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Before moving to Parrottsville in 1971, she resided in Del Rio. She was a member of Mulberry Gap Methodist Church. Marie loved to sing, and when her children were growing up, they could often be found singing in local churches as "The Norwood Family". She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hazel Norwood; twin sons, Benton and Denton Norwood; and grandson, Jonathan Henderson. She is survived by her daughters, Glenda (Jerry) Henderson, Hartford; and Sandra (M.C.) Peters, Parrottsville; son, Bruce Norwood, Parrottsville; grandchildren, Love Henderson, Jamey (Joye) Peters, Eric (Sara) Peters, Brandon (Mandy) Henderson, Newport and Joshua Norwood, Parrottsville; great-grandchildren, Caden Henderson and Daniel Peters, Newport; sister, Shirley Woody, Del Rio; brother, Roy (Essie) Burgin, Max Patch, NC; sisters-in-law, Betty Burgin Gorrell, Lynda Burgin, Vera Rice, Betty Scott, Newport, Christine Russ, N.C., Lois Lambe, Jewel Horner, and Mildred Curcio, New Jersey, Eyvonne Brewer, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Bob Norwood, Del Rio; special friends, Joy Stokely, Mark Green, Bea Rucker, and Sarah Kimber; the staff of Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation Center, Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice; caregivers, Mary Bunch, Lori Johnson, Brooke Ramsey, Jenny Seay, and Linda Barrett. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2009, at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Arthur Willis officiating, with Eric Peters and Brandon Henderson also speaking . The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday prior to the service. The family will meet at Manes Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 17, 2009 to travel to Big Hill Cemetery in Del Rio for the 2:00 p.m. burial. Pallbearers will be Jeff Gentry, Shane Rice, Wade Burgin, Don Norwood, Jeff Bunch and Tony Blazer.
