Hoyle “Jim” Spence, age 80, of Cosby, passed away Thursday April 3, 2014.
He was a lifetime member of the Cosby Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife Zola Spence, sisters and brothers, Glennie Rathbone, Gladys McGaha, Clifford, Paul and John Spence; grandaughter Mary Elizabeth Jenkins.
He is survived by children Robert Spence and wife Vesta Neal, Peggy McKnight and husband Curtiss, and Gaylynne Ball and husband Randy.
Grandchildren Lucas Jenkins and wife Christie, Johnathan Ball and wife Brandi, James Spence, Josh McKnight, Ocean Carver and fiancee Chris Collins. Great grandchildren Addison Jenkins, Paislee Ball and Jarren Raines, and Izadoria Collins, sisters Mildred Gregg and Nancy Barnes; sisters–in-law Martha Boyer and Lucille Jarnigan, special friends- the James Price family and also several nieces and nephews.
Interment services were held Monday, April 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at McMillian Cemetery with Rev. Ransom Hall officiating.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 12, 2014 at the Denton Baptist Church with the family receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
