Doris R. Cates(nee Runnion), age 97 of Carneys Point, NJ, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 after a long illness.
Born in Del Rio, TN., she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Lizzie Runnion.
Mrs. Cates was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Carneys Point where she enjoyed singing in the Chancel Choir and the Circle of Friendship. Doris' passions were gardening, family and needlework.
Surviving are her sons, Walter A. Cates, Jr.,(Joanne), Thomas B. Cates and her daughter, Linda D. Cates.
She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Cates and her sisters, Katherine Stephens and Mary Drake.

Special thanks to the team at Memorial Home Health and Hospice, nurses Diane and Nancy; aides Cheryl and Rene, for 9 years of care and kindness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday, August 21st at the ASHCRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 47 State St., Penns Grove with a visitation beginning at 10 a. m.
Burial will be in Eglington Cemetery.
