James Edmond “Eddie” Owens Jr., age 55, of Del Rio, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Edmond Owens Sr.; mother, Kathleen Owens Moore; and father-in-law, Hugh D. Bradshaw.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Jane Owens, of Del Rio; sons, Derwin Owens, of Dayton, Tenn., and Jeremy Owens, of Newport; grandchildren, Megan Owens, of Dayton; Hailey Owens, of Newport; Cole Owens, of Dayton; and David James Owens, of Newport; brother, John David Owens, of Del Rio; sister, Debbie Stokely, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; mother-in-law, Tessie Bradshaw, of Del Rio; special aunt, Margaret O. Hill, of Del Rio; also several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2004, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Murr and the Rev. Ricky Clowers officiating.
Graveside services were held 12:00 p.m. noon Tuesday with the L/Cpl Charles C. Roberts DAV Chapter 102 conducting military rites.
Active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Don Holt, Harold Holt, Barnett Williams, Chuck True, Jerry Grooms, Anthony Holt, Kenny Davis, P.O. Flecher, Richard Lyda, Shane Steelman, Johnny Watkins, and Charles Poncho Webb.
Also serving as honorary pallbearers will be his fellow Norfolk-Southern Railroad employees. The family received friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
