NEWPORT- Danny Shelton is seeking his second term on the County Legislative Body, Post 1, District 1. Shelton is married to Dina Roberts and has two daughters, Kristle, 22 and Mandi, 18.
His parents are Roella Mathis and the late R. J. Shelton of Del Rio. His grandparents were the late Drew and Annie Mae Stokely, and the late George and Ellen Shelton. "I would like to thank God for the guidance he has given me the past four years. I would also like to thank my church family, my family and the people of the first district for their prayers and support." Shelton attends Piney Grove Baptist Church in Del Rio and has been a member there for the past 25 years. I have been employed by the Cocke County Fire Department for the past four years. He served two terms as a Cocke County road commissioner for the First District and has been an active member of the Del Rio Fire Department for the past 10 years. "The county has made many accomplishments in the last four years," he said. "Our county is growing every year with new businesses, industries, shopping centers, and a water line that will provide clean drinking water for the children of Del Rio Elementary School and also to the people in the Denton and Hartford Communities. "I'm so pleased to see the county and city working close together for the betterment of our county," he continued. "Working together promotes growth. As a citizen of this county I ask you to look around and see all the positive things that have taken place in the past four years. "My goal from four years ago hasn't changed. I'm for better paying jobs, so our children wont have to leave the county to work. I want our children to be proud of where they live and work. I'm asking the people of the First District for your vote and continued support on August 3.
