Martha Sue Howard England passed away Monday, March 15, 2010.
She was born to Ted and Lucille Howard. A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Martha was an Isle of Wight County, Va., resident for 42 years. She graduated from Knoxville Central in 1956 as Valedictorian with a class of over 300. Martha attended LMU on a scholastic scholarship.
While living in Isle of Wight County, she worked for many years at Isle of Wight Academy as assistant to the principal. Martha later worked for Social Services for the County and she also did volunteer work for the people of Isle of Wight.
Martha is survived by her husband, Charles England; brothers and sisters, Barbara Thornberg, Doris McCarter, Charles Edward Howard, Rose Clevenger, Nina Vogel and Jimmy Howard. She was preceded in death by sister, Mary McCoy.
A graveside service will be held Friday, March 19, 2010, at 1 p.m. in Central Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, at Colonial Funeral Home.
Martha had great passion for helping others. She made positive impressions with all she met. Her kindness was extended to many friends and animals. She loved children, flowers and beagle puppies.
Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, Va.
