Mr. and Mrs. Burns were the first formal wedding to take place in the new Logans Church building. Mrs. Burns graduated from Porter High School. She attended Maryville College for two years, transferring to the University of Tennessee where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She retired from the Blount County School System in 1983 after teaching at Porter Elementary for 16 years, Friendsville and Porter High Schools for 9 years. Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother to: Children, Jane and David Doan of Blountville, TN; John and Susan Burns of Townsend, TN; Becky and Paul DePrator of Stongsville, OH; Floyd Thomas Jr. and Nancy Burns of Chattanooga, TN; and Robert Burns of Maryville. Grandchildren Lori and Adam Hitch, Elizabeth Doan, Lucinda and Nathaniel Allin, Holly Burns, Alisa Doan, Debrorah Doan, David Bruce Doan III, and Rebekah Megan Burns.
