Miss Leona Joyce Roberts was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Leona will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
She was the daughter of Rev. W. L. And Martha Roberts.
Leona was raised with five siblings. She had one sister, Wilma, and four brothers, Guy, Bruce, Earl, and Roy.
Leona excelled at academics and enjoyed her college years. She graduated from Emory and Henry College and went on to earn a Masters Degree from Scarritt College.
Leona’s faith was important to her. She was a member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church.
Leona enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Leona worked diligently and did her best to help her fellow parishioners in her career as a Visitation Minister. She served as diaconal minister of Educational and Children’s Ministry for the Holston Conference, including Washington Pike UMC, Central UMC and Trinity UMC.
Leona passed away on September 18, 2012 at NHC of Johnson City. She is survived by nieces, Carolyn Walker and husband Duard, Pat Aldridge Hinkle and husband Clark, Godsons, Wesley and Chad Chamberlain many nieces and nephews. Services were held at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Jim Bales officiating. Leona was laid to rest in Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Simply stated, Leona was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Leona leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Miss Leona Joyce Roberts.
