Georgia Lindsey, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 14th. She was a lifelong faithful member of First Christian Church of Newport, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston “Banks” Lindsey; parents, Annie and Isaac Allen McMahan; brothers, Artis Baxter, Clay, Stosel, Cecil, and Ardell McMahan; sisters, Allie Garver, Altha Valentine, Estelle Jenkins, Vergie Valentine, and Bashie Smallwood. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Bill Williamson; sister, Amber Ball; brother and sister-in-law, Esmond and Alma Baxter; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and friends. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Newport, c/o Mike Sweeten, 333 Unaka Street, Newport, TN 37821.
