(P.A.) Charles W. Clark, age 73, of Newport, died April 3, 2011, in Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Vergie Clark; brother, Clay Clark; and brother-in-law, Billy Frank Smith. P. A. joined the United States Air Force when he was 17 years old. Once he completed his time in the service he returned home and graduated from Cosby High School and completed two years at Walter State. In 1976 he joined the Newport Tennessee National Guard and later transferred to the Air National Guard in Knoxville and retired after 29 ˝ years. He worked as a construction worker and was proud to have helped build Smoky Mountain Elementary School, in Cosby. P. A. then went to work for the National Park Service as a Fire Watcher at White Rock. He worked for Wall Tube and American ENKA, then worked for the State of Tennessee Transportation and retired after 35 years of service. P.A. was a former CLB member and a member of the Cocke County Beer Board, and in most recent years you could see him at East Port Car Wash and Law’s Used Cars. He was an avid U.T. fan and loved trout fishing and camping in Townsend. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Pack Clark, of Newport; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Mark Ramsey of Cosby; sons and daughters-in-law, Teddy and Karen Clark of Knoxville, Tracy and Tammy Pack of Newport; grandchildren, Kinsey and Kendall Clark of Knoxville, Dakoda and Kameran Pack of Newport; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Clark; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Don Williams, Peggy and Harold Huff; sister, Emma Jean Stinson; sister-in-law, Christene Smith; nieces, Amanda Clark, Becky Sue Clark, Vickie Lunsford, Ann Suggs, Bobbie Jean Stinson and Donna DeMello; nephews, Darrell Williams and Dave Williams; also several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other friends. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Large and Rev. Rick Spell officiating. Graveside services will be held 12:00 noon Thursday, April 7, 2011 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm and from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
