OWNBY, ARVIN - age 95, of North Knoxville, died Tuesday October 3, 2000. He was a member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church and the Friendly Bible Sunday school class where he was recognized for 44 years perfect attendance. Mr. Ownby was a US Army veteran and member of Masters Lodge #244 F&AM. He retired from the Knoxville Police Department after more that thirty years service as a patrolman, detective, and beer inspector. Preceded in death by wives, Nettie Kate Ownby and Freda Lee Ownby. He is survived by his daughter & son in law, Doris & Fred Young of Knoxville; sons & daughters in law, Don & Patty Ownby of Powell, Hugh & Mary Ann Ownby of Knoxville, Jimmy & Sue Ownby of Powell, and Rex & Patsy Ownby of Knoxville; 16 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; special nephew, Burble Owenby and many other nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Keith Walker officiating. Family and friends will meet Saturday at Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 1 p.m. interment service and presentation by the Knoxville Police Department Honor Guard. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Building Fund of Lincoln Park Baptist Church, 830 Chicamauga Ave. Knoxville, Tenn. 37917. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
