She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Proffitt; parents, Lacy and Becky Cates; brother, Mike Cates. She is survived by her son, Terry Proffitt; daughter, Judy Roberts, of Greeneville; grandchildren, Keely Proffitt and Terry E. Proffitt, both of Greeneville; Christy Proffitt, Stacy Smith, Rose Murr, Jack Roberts, and Travis Roberts, all of Greeneville; brother, Carroll Cates, of Wyoming. Great-grandchildren, Carrie Smith, Matthew Smith, and Joseph Murr; step-grandson, Samuel Webb; several nieces and nephews and close cousin and friends. The funeral will be held 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2001 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Palmer officiating, with burial 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Clark Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral at Manes Funeral Home. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
