Dora Faye Roberts, age 95, 2834 Woodhill Road, Johnson City, died Friday, August 17, 2001 at her residence.
She was a Jefferson County native, lived in Newport for 42 years, and came to Johnson City in 1978.
Mrs. Roberts was a daughter of the late James and Lettie Victoria Shell Cureton.
She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she participated in the choir, United Methodist Women, and the XYZ Club.
She was a former member of First United Methodist Church of Newport where she was also active in the choir and United Methodist Women.
She was a former member of Farm Bureau of Newport.
She enjoyed her years as the owner and operator of Roberts Greenhouse in Newport.
Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Wilford Roberts; a son-in-law, Duard Aldridge; five sisters, Mae Kyker, Mollie Justice, Genevieve Kennedy, Maude Pierce, and Pauline Frison; and three brothers, Charles, Hubert, and Lonnie Cureton.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Walker and her husband, Duard, and Pat Aldridge, both of Johnson City; two sisters, Gladys Johnson, Newport, and Charlotte Carlo, Longwood, Florida; one brother, Bill Cureton, and his wife, Faye, Knoxville; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Roberts, Knoxville.
Seven grandchildren: Cindy Gober, Elizabethton; Teresa Sibley and Buff Walker, Ft. Myers, Fla; Gary Walker, Bluff City; Tracy Walker, Ft. Collins, Col; Jeff Aldridge and Melanie Aldridge, both of Johnson City.
Twelve great-grandchildren: Chad Fulwider, Derrick Fulwider, Jace Fulwider, Stephanie Sibley, Gavin Walker, Sky Walker, Trey Walker, Anlyn Hughes, Tony Stout, Nyela Aldridge, Megan Aldridge, and Natalie Aldridge.
Several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted 8:00 p.m. Tuesday from Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Dr. Dwight S. Kilbourne, Rev. Grant Buttermore, Rev. W.D. Garman, and Rev. Tim Ross will officiate.
The committal service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Friends are invited to meet the family at Morris-Baker by 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Buff Walker, Gary Walker, Tracy Walker, Derrick Fulwider, Jace Fulwider, and Billy Gober.
Special thanks are extended to Mrs. Roberts’ caregivers and hospice workers of Johnson City Medical Center Hospice.
