Mr. Lee Roy Cureton, 84, of the Saint Tide community, passed away Sunday morning, August 25, 2002 at his home. Mr. Cureton was a retired school teacher. He had taught in the Cocke County School System. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ida Belle Cline Cureton; brother, Glenn Cureton; sister, Bertie Cureton; and a special friend, Erwin Letho. He was a founding member of the Saint Tide Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and as a Sunday School teacher for 51 years. Mr. Cureton was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruby Cureton, of the home; children: James Cureton, Mary Keller, Tony Cureton, Judy Harrison, Ida Baxter, Alton Cureton, Sara Ciocco, Preston Cureton, and Brenda Gail Evans; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Suggs officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as the pallbearers. Costner-Maloy in charge.
