Willard "Dick" Barnes, 77, of Sevierville passed away May 7, 2016. He was a Stone Mason for many years. Dick was an avid horseback rider who knew many of the trails in the Smokies. He had a passion for genealogical research. Dick helped to establish group homes and workshops for the mentally handicapped in Sevier county and several surrounding counties.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Annie Barnes; brothers, Rex and Clarence Barnes; and sister, Grace Sturgill and her husband, Ken Sturgill.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Iva Barnes; son, Randy Barnes; daughter, Theresa Ward; brother, Claude Barnes; sisters-in-law, Bea Barnes and Faye Barnes; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Douglas Adult Cooperative, 1101 Wagner Drive, Sevierville, TN 37862.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Friday, May 13th with the Celebration of Life Service to follow at 6 PM at Atchley's Smoky Mountain Chapel, 220 Emert Street, Pigeon Forge, TN. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Oldham's Creek Cemetery.
