  [S24] The Newport Plain Talk, (http://www.newportplaintalk.com), 20 May 2001. Christine McGaha, 81, of Newport, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, May 20, 2001, following a lengthy illness. She was a Baptist by faith. Her husband, Paul McGaha; parents, Titus and Lydia Smith; two sons: infant McGaha and Hollis McGaha; two daughters: Peggy and Sue McGaha; one sister, Alma Ruth Maloy; and four brothers, Ernest, Wilbur, Monroe and Gerstile Smith, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons: Jerry Smith and his wife, Barbara, John Alfred Smith and his wife, Brenda, Joe McGaha and Charles McGaha, all of Newport; two daughters, Doris McGaha and Helen Hayes and her husband, Roy, all of Newport; sisters, Mary Nell Gentry, of Newport, and Sina B. Dodson, of Cleveland, OH. Mrs. McGaha will also be missed by sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friends: Ralph Adams, Trula (Toot) Truett, Helen Haun, Vonda McGaha and Bonnie Miller. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ray Swan officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, May 23, 2001, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home.
