William Thomas (Bill) James of Memphis, TN went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2009.
He was born in Newport, TN, a son of the late Thomas and Oma (Shropshire) James. He was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers: Pearl Baker, Lena Burgess, Edna Haynes, Alice Burgess, and Gertrude James and Henry James, Homer James, Dewey James, and Tommy James.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty Trentham James; two daughters and their husbands: Marilyn and Fred Wafler of Arab, AL and Sandra and Virgil Stanley of Millington, TN; four grandchildren: Mickie and Alan Gibbs, Matthew and Amy Wafler, Ross and Sidni Wafler, and Rebecca Stanley; four great-grandchildren: Wesley Gibbs, Ashley Gibbs, Aaron Wafler, and Myles Wafler; one sister: Lona James Parker of New Jersey and several sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held Monday, October 5, 2009, and the funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, all at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home in Millington, TN.
Burial was in Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery, Millington, TN.
Memorial gifts may be made to Methodist Hospice of Memphis or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
