Rufus Black, age 82, of the Grassy Fork Community, died early Saturday morning, September 27, 2003, at his home.
He was a member of Blacks Chapel Church.
Mr. Black was preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Adam Black; sisters, Addie Coggins, Emma Mooneyham, and Mary Black; brothers, Estes Black, Walter Black, Elmer Black, and Ike Black; and grandson, Kenneth Wayne Jenkins Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Gennie B. Black, of Grassy Fork; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Diana Black, of Grassy Fork; daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and D.C. Ramsey, of Del Rio, Mary Kate and Danny Fish, of Hartford, Mildred and Kenneth Jenkins, of Grassy Fork; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one stepgrandson and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services were held 8 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2003, at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randall Freeman, Rev. Danny Greene, and Rev. Tommy Ball officiating. The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment was 2 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2003, in the Black’s family cemetery.
