John Michael "Porky" McCarter obituary
- [S4] Knoxville News-Sentinel (Tennessee), 18 Apr 2004.
HURST, JUANITA PROFFITT McCARTER — the coupon shortage is over, Juanita has gone to be with her genealogy family. Juanita was a woman who was loved by the many people who started their day at Water’s Grill and welcomed many with a smile and a cup of coffee at Heath’s Restaurant. She was also a woman who contributed many years to her genealogy work on the Proffitt, Williams and McCarter families. She was a woman who never found fault with anyone. She always had a smile and a kind word.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Williams Proffitt; first husband, John Edward (Bud) McCarter; son, John Michael (Porky) McCarter; sister, Olie Louise Proffitt and brother, Wilbur Eugene Proffitt.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Hurst; daughter, Rita Jean Dills and husband, Tugar; son, Robert Edward (Eddie) McCarter; grandchildren, Sherry, Pam, Brittany, Jake; great grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Kenny and Mandy; sisters, Bernice Todd and husband, Bill, Betty Sue McClanahan and several nieces and nephews who will miss their Aunt Scotty very much.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Highland Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations South. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Highland South with Rev. Ken McClanahan officiating. Arrangements are by Highland Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations South.
