Mrs. Vernie "Nanny" Henderson, 62, of Newport, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2006, at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Glennie Kirkpatrick. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Connie Henderson, of Newport; daughters and sons-in-law, Lillie and Norman Sartain, of Newport, and Lisa and David Smith, of Cleveland, Ohio; daughters, Alice Ross and Susan Henderson, both of Cleveland, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene and Dorsey Warden, Francis and Harold Sutton, Betty and Brian Frazier, Martha and Junior Messer, Dora "Kitthopper" and Haskel Lane; sisters, Mary Sutton, Marie Evans, Lori Arrington, Dean O'Dell, and Rosie Messer, all of Newport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Kirkpatrick, Jimmy and Brenda Kirkpatrick, and brother, Darrell Kirkpatrick, all of Newport. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Doris Holt, Wilma Valentine, Sandra Valentine, and Janet Valentine, all of Newport. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gene Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. Arrangements by Costner-Maloy.
